Uponor FastGuard split cable protection pipes now available at Gridstock

Added to Gridstock's selection Uponor FastGuard split cable protection pipes – a practical solution for cable protection in demanding and complex installation situations. This is not just a new product, but a solution that has already been used in several large and responsible infrastructure projects in Europe.

One good example is Upgrading the electrical system of the eastern section of the Helsinki Metro, where Uponor FastGuard was used to protect nearly 2.5 kilometers of medium voltage cables. Tight conditions, strict safety requirements and a tight schedule meant that conventional cable protection solutions were not suitable. The advantage of FastGuard was precisely split construction and quick installation, which made it possible to protect cables without moving them along the route and to perform work significantly faster than with traditional solutions.

The strength of FastGuard is smart top-down locking mechanism, which allows the pipe to be closed without tools – either by hand or foot. The locking provides clear audible and tactile confirmation that the pipe is closed correctly. This simple but well-thought-out solution reduces the physical strain on installers and helps to keep the work pace stable even in difficult conditions.
 
The use of FastGuard has also been highly appreciated outside Finland. For example, in the protection of electricity supply in infrastructure projects, the solution has been highlighted for its mechanical strength, fire resistance and suitability for uneven and loaded installation surfaces, where cable protection pipes must withstand the impact of both machinery and traffic.
 
The practicality and quality of the solution is also confirmed by international recognition – Uponor FastGuard received the Red Dot Design Award in 2025 in the product design category. The jury highlighted FastGuard's innovative and ergonomic design, tool-free installation, and suitability for demanding infrastructure and construction projects.
