When we talk about optical communication and fiber optic solutions, we can't miss Corning – a company whose scientific and engineering thinking has created entire industries. As a Gridstock partner, we offer Corning's high-quality optical connectors and cables that ensure reliable and future-proof connectivity in both telecom and industrial networks.
The Corning story began in 1851
Corning Incorporated was founded in 1851 when Amory Houghton founded the Bay State Glass Company, which later moved to Corning, New York, and became the Corning Flint Glass Company. Corning's development is characterized by a very strong research and development activity - in 1908, one of the first industrial research laboratories in the United States was opened.
Important milestones in history
- 1879–1880: Thomas Edison turned to Corning to create stronger glass domes for his new light bulb. Corning became his sole supplier.
- 1915: A legend was born PYREX® glass – a heat-resistant and extremely durable material that began to be used both in laboratories and in homes.
- 1970: Corning developed the first low-loss optical fiber, which laid the foundation for the modern internet and large-scale data communications.
- 2007: Introduced Gorilla Glass®, which became the standard in the smartphone industry.
- 2013–2020: Flexible glass materials were developed, optical networks in hotels and concert halls were improved, and space missions were supported with high-precision mirrors.
Corning is both deeply traditional and one of the world's most innovative materials science companies.
Corning Today: World-Class Optical Solutions
Corning is one of the world's largest manufacturers of optical fiber and cable. The company's telecommunications segment produces optical fibers, cables, interconnect components, splices and other critical infrastructure equipment needed to build data communications and FTTH networks.
Corning Optical Communications – one of Corning’s primary business segments – offers:
- optical fiber cables
- sleeves and protective boxes
- fittings and connection components
- internal and external network solutions
- products for harsh environments (e.g. ClearCurve®)
Why choose Corning couplings and cables from our range?
1. Reliability in difficult conditions
Corning splices and fiber optic cables are designed to withstand moisture, temperature fluctuations, and mechanical stress. ClearCurve® technology allows the fiber to bend at small radius without significant signal loss.
2. Innovation and tested quality
Corning is constantly developing new glass and composite materials that provide better durability and longer life than conventional solutions. They are a global leader in the production of optical fibers.
3. Suitable for both FTTH and industrial networks
From long-distance outdoor cables to indoor cables and compact connectors, Corning covers all your data infrastructure needs.
Gridstock & Corning: A Strong Partnership
